FOSBR welcomes Electrification
Friends of Suburban Bristol Railways (FOSBR) welcome electrification of South West rail. This investment is environmentally and socially beneficial, in contrast to money spent on new bypasses and road widening.
FOSBR is delighted that Stephen Williams MP is calling for electrification to Avonmouth which will allow our branch line to link with main lines. This is also necessary on the Henbury loop as it is a diversionary route.
FOSBR member, Bernard Kennedy, ASLEF said “Electrification must be extended to Swansea and Plymouth and the work must be done as part of a nationalized publically owned servcie. Rail is essential for passenger and freight services. A fragmented railway is a fractured railway.”
