Council discusses restoration of services on the Henbry Loop

Date: December 2011

South Gloucestershire Council has said the scale of development in Northern Bristol gave an opportunity to look at opening the stations at Henbury (close to The Mall at Cribbs Causeway) and Filton Halt (near Filton College and Airbus). The reopening of the Henbry Loop to passenger trains, on which these stations are situated, has long been campaigned for by FOSBR.

The proposal provides the opportunity for a suburban metro service, serving Bristol Temple Meads, Clifton Down, Henbury and Bristol Parkway (and intermediate stops) on a circular route.

South Gloucestershire Council confirmed they are "working with Network Rail and other interested parties on the proposal, which would be subject to a satisfactory business case being developed". FOSBR supports the building of this proposal.
